Manchester United have had a £52 million bid rejected by Real Madrid for Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, according to Sky.
Real Madrid are apparently holding out for a fee in the region of £78 million for the forward, with talks possibly brewing between the two clubs about a swap deal involving David de Gea heading to Madrid.
The Spanish international found the back of the net 20 times this season as they won La Liga and the Champions League after re-joining Madrid from Juventus in 2016.
In two seasons with Juventus, Morata won two league titles and two Coppa Italia trophies before Madrid exercised their buy black clause for £26 million in the summer.
If Manchester United can’t agree a deal with Madrid for Morata, Jose Mourinho will then turn his attention elsewhere, with Torino striker Andrea Belotti reportedly on the manager’s radar as he looks to bolster his attacking options for the upcoming season.
