Antonio Conte has kicked off the mind games between himself and Jose Mourinho ahead of Chelsea’s meeting with Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Southampton at Wembley, as reported by the Mirror, Conte admitted that his side will be the underdogs in the final of the competition.
“I think this final is a game between two great teams: Manchester United and Chelsea. For sure, in my mind, I can tell you that we played last season in the final and arrived as favourites against Arsenal. This season, we are arriving not as favourites.”
Manchester United booked their place in the final after beating Tottenham 2-1 on Saturday evening.
Goals from Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata was enough to see Chelsea progress into the final against a disappointing Southampton side who failed to seriously test the Blues.
The meeting at Wembley will be the next chapter in the rivalry between Conte and Mourinho, while it is also likely to be the former’s last game in charge of the Blues.
Both teams won their respective home fixtures in the two meetings between the two clubs this season.
