We’ve all dreamed of living the millionaire lifestyle complete with our very own Caribbean island – but unfortunately that often means needing a millionaire’s budget.
But now, one Caribbean island is up for sale – and you won’t need to spend any money. Well, not money as you know it.
That’s because if you want to buy Bloody Bay Beach on Union Island in St Vincent and the Grenadines, you’re going to need Bitcoin .
That’s 600 Bitcoin to be exact, which currently equals to approximately £4.4million at today’s rate.
The Bloody Bay Company will only accept the virtual cash in exchange for the 13-acre plot of land on the breathtaking tropical island.
“Someone wise or brave enough to have got in early on the cryptocurrency phenomenon could soon be lifting their rum cocktails to toast the bargain of the century,” said a spokesperson for the Bloody Bay Company selling the land.
It’s one of the most expensive items ever to be offered for sale exclusively in Bitcoin – and while the price tag is pretty hefty, the impressive rise in the value of Bitcoin means that someone who started 2017 with £440,000 worth of Bitcoins could afford the land today.
And it’s a pretty wanderlust-inducing dream holiday destination.
Leading down to the pristine white sands of Bloody Bay, there are plans to build a villa and beach bar on the plot of land, not to mention that architect Seth Stein has also drawn up plans to create a collection of luxury cabins, should the new owner want to host guests!
The island itself boasts seriously spectacular scenery, crystalline blue waters, plenty of tropical wildlife and jaw-dropping beautiful beaches.
Not to mention there are just 3,000 inhabitants so it’s ideal for those after some tranquility.
Then of course it’s just a short boat ride away to some of the region’s other glamorous islands – no wonder it’s such a hit with superyacht owners
And for those who haven’t got the Bitcoin necessary to bid on the island, or simply don’t have the budget to drop everything and move to the Caribbean, there’s no need to despair; there are plenty of ways to have a cheap holiday in the Caribbean.
For example, Lastminute.com often has offers on all-inclusive Caribbean holidays , while LoveHolidays has holidays going from as little as £467pp ! You can also find some of the best-value holidays for your chosen travel dates on TravelSupermarket here .
