Elton John’s greatest strops and diva moments: From celebrity feuds to screaming at his own fans

Sir Elton John is as famous for his tantrums as he is for his timeless, chart topping records.

The 70-year-old British music legend’s most recent strop came at the expense of his own fans, who he turned on after inviting them on stage to dance while he played piano, only for him to yell at them for getting too close.

This is far from the first outburst from the legendary Candle In The Wind star (and no doubt won’t be the last).

Here are some of the biggest strops, tantrums, and feuds launched by Sir Elton John over the years…

The knight went on to brand Madonna a “fairground stripper”. a “c**t” and “a nightmare”.

However the pair patched things up by 2016 with Elton revealing on The Graham Norton show that he had apologised to Madonna when they happened to be in the same restaurant together, and he bought her dinner.

The boys patched things up by 2011, with George performing at Elton’s charity concert in aid of the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Following George’s shock death on Christmas Day in 2016, Elton paid tribute to his friend, calling him “brilliant” and declared his talent was “one of the best in the world.”

A furious Elton called for a boycott on all Dolce & Gabbana products and declared he would “never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again!”

His boycott didn’t last long, however, as, astonishingly, Elton was spotted skipping around while clutching a Dolce and Gabbana shopping bag just hours later.

While in Taiwan in 2004, Elton launched into a foul mouthed rage against the paparazzi.

Turning to the flashing photographers, the singer completely flipped, calling them “rude, vile pigs” and demanding they all “f**k off”.

When a photographer asked: “Why don’t you get out of Taiwan?”, he spat back: “We’d love to get out of Taiwan if it’s full of people like you. Pig! Pig!”

The multimillion pound court case drew wide media attention – and humiliation for Elton at the end as the courts ruled his former manager and accountants had acted honestly.

The case was reported to have cost Elton £8 million after he lost.

Even Elton’s own fans are not safe from lashing from his acid tongue.

In March 2018, the star turned on his Las Vegas audience when he invited them on stage to dance while he played piano.

Perhaps he should have specified that they shouldn’t get too close, as he ended up screaming: “F**k off! You f**ked it up!” when dancers got too close to his personal space, and he then promptly stormed off stage in a huff.
