Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou issued on Friday a new decree in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus into the country.
The decree prohibits the entrance into quarantine areas without the permission of the Minister of Health or an authorized official of the Ministry of Health.
It also prohibits any person without authorization to approach, at a distance of less than one metre, a person who is either a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) or is into a mandatory quarantine or self-quarantine.
According to the new decree, as of 06.00 am on 21 March 2020, pharmacies and supermarkets as from their opening hour until 10:00 am should serve exclusively persons who belong to the vulnerable groups, persons aged over sixty years old and disabled.
It also allows businesses whose operations have not been suspended and that serve the public to extend their working hours to avoid crowding under some preconditions.
It further excludes the hotels and tourist accommodation from provisions of the decree under precondιtions.
