One of the groups most severely affected by the coronavirus crisis is the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME’s), which constitute the backbone of the Cyprus economy.
The problem faced by small and medium-sized businesses with their rents is big, especially those businesses that have suspended their operation because of the decrees issued by the Ministry of Health.
The problem with these rents is pressing and must be addressed. To do so, it is imperative that the State, small and medium-sized businesses and property owners all make their contribution.
We call on the government to take the initiative and resolve this pressing problem. The context of this arrangement could be the contribution of each side (the state, SME’s and property owners) to a percentage.
The government needs to move swiftly to settle this problem.
