PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – Greek-American Steve Chininis, a professor at Georgia Tech, is helping in the battle against the coronavirus from his garage, CBS46 News in Atlanta reported on April 15.
Chininis, between teaching online classes at Georgia Tech, has turned his garage into a factory with 3D printers and a “homemade” exhaust fan where he makes face shields for healthcare workers on the frontlines of the battle against the coronavirus.
“The stuff in your garage is such a small thing compared to what they’re doing and risking their lives,” Chininis told CBS46.
“He can make up to 30 face shields a day,” CBS46’s Adam Murphy reported, “potentially saving lives for less than $10 a piece.”
Chininis’ neighbor, Alf Rhea told CBS46, “It’s normal for Steve, he’s always being creative and doing things, and I think it’s awesome that we as a neighborhood are pulling together and he’s leaning on everybody and helping out, I mean, we’re really talking about saving lives.”
