Carroll has endured a frustrating start to the season, having had to sit on the bench for most of the campaign being behind the likes of Callum Wilson, Joelinton and Dwight Gayle. However, he finally scored his first goal since rejoining the Magpies in 2019 in the 2-1 defeat against Leicester City last Sunday.
Steve Bruce admitted after the game against Leicester that Carroll had now given him something to think about in terms of potentially having more involvement in the side. However, the 32-year-old is entering the final few months of his contract with the Magpies and this month represents the last chance to recoup any transfer fee for him.
It has now emerged that West Brom have placed Carroll on their shortlist of strikers, with Sam Allardyce reportedly desperate for reinforcements to help the Baggies turn their season around. Grant’s injury could prompt them to move for a new centre-forward swiftly and Carroll could be the player they target, according to the Daily Mail
