AmCham chief discusses cooperation with the Tourism Ministry

The new head of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, Ioannis Sarakakis, has paid a courtesy visit to Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni, and they agreed to cooperate toward enhancing tourism relation between Greece and the US, according to a ministry statement on Thursday.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the ways of cooperation between the ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) with the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce to increase the flow of tourists from the US, especially through cultural tourism, and to promote investments, utilizing the one-stop shop for tourism investments that has been operating successfully for twelve years at the ministry.

In its statement the ministry said that “the historical friendship between the two countries and the strong Greek diaspora element constitute the foundations for the further deepening and expansion of bilateral tourism cooperation, which is already at a very high level, with American inbound tourism to Greece consistently ranking at the top of the rankings and constantly increasing.”

Kefalogianni and Sarakakis agreed at their meeting to examine more thoroughly, between the ministry’s services and the competent bodies of the Chamber, the forms and methods of their cooperation, with the aim of further developing Greek-American tourism relations.
