President inaugurates Pafos Hospital departments, says Health a top social policy pillar
The Health sector is one of the most critical pillars of the government’s social policy, along with Education, Housing and the Welfare State, President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, said on Monday.

The President inaugurated in the morning the Accident and Emergency Department, the Short-stay Nursing Unit and the Outpatient Clinic for Infections and Immunology of the Pafos General Hospital.

In his statements, the President stated that the Government is “investing in the Health sector and continuing to upgrade the health services provided.”

Asked about the projects he inaugurated today, he expressed satisfaction with the level of upgrade and the new wards and equipment.

President Christodoulides noted that the government is investing an amount of over 150 million euro in the health sector, adding that, Health and Education “are not accounting transactions, but are investments”.

He also said that thanks to the responsible fiscal policy of the government “we have the opportunity, to invest in these sectors and we will proceed within the same framework”.

The President added that the projects “are substantive interventions, not just rooms, wards, etc. They are very important equipment, modern, state-of-the-art equipment”.

Noting that he medical and nursing staff have been trained, he said that services offers have been upgraded.

He reiterated that the government will continue its work in the health sector.

The next stop, President Christodoulides said, will be Limassol and Larnaca.

“There are some projects underway there, that will be completed very soon. And we are continuing.” he pledged.

He also recalled that the Polis Chrysochous Hospital will be upgraded with an investment of approximately 17 million euro.

“Work is in progress according to the schedules and our goal, our minimum obligation in health and education, is to offer our citizens the same services wherever they are,” he concluded.
