National Bank of Greece posts profits of €661 mln in the first half

National Bank of Greece (NBG) recorded profits of €661 million in the first half of the year, it announced on Thursday.

Its earnings per share came to €1.45, while its balance sheet recorded a considerable growth, with disbursements rising 30% year-on-year and its performing loans expanding by €2.1 billion to reach €39.1 billion.

CEO Pavlos Mylonas said “our continued investments in technology and human capital, together with the successful completion of the rollout of our new Core Banking System – one of the most modern banking platforms in Europe – further strengthen our operational resilience, scalability and innovation capabilities.

Combined with our unique balance sheet, disciplined capital allocation and the favorable structural outlook for the Greek economy, NBG is positioned to deliver on or above its targets.”
