Petro Papathomas is among the final three contestants competing for the MasterChef Australia 2026 title, alongside Aaron Kher and Vinnie Gibaldi.

The 30-year-old Victorian chartered accountant, who has Greek and Cypriot heritage, developed his love of cooking from an early age by watching his mother Georgia and grandmothers Sophia and Christina in the kitchen.

He has spent years perfecting his halloumi recipe and hopes to one day open a Cypriot restaurant showcasing Greek and Mediterranean flavours.

Petro secured his place in the Top 3 earlier than the other contestants during Meghan Markle’s guest judge appearance, when his celeriac dessert earned him immunity from the following elimination.

As the competition enters Finals Week, Petro said his strategy for the semi-final was simply “to try and keep calm and enjoy the experience.”

The semi-final will see the final three reduced to two, before the MasterChef Australia 2026 grand finale, where the finalists will compete for the title and $250,000 in prize money.

The finale will feature a 75-minute Mystery Box challenge and a five-hour pastry challenge based on acclaimed chef Cherish Finden’s Chinese Afternoon Tea.

The Finals Week episodes will air on Channel 10 and 10Play.
