Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis and his deputy, Ioannis Bougas, met on Tuesday with FBI Co-Deputy Director Andrew Bailey in Athens to discuss enhanced cooperation on matters of mutual interest.
Representatives from the US Embassy in Greece also attended the meeting, described as warm and constructive.
Central to the discussions were opportunities for collaboration in training judicial officers, prosecutors, and investigators. This includes exchanges of expertise, joint training programs, and targeted educational activities.
Floridis, the Greek justice minister, highlighted the strategic importance of close institutional cooperation, stressing that “the exchange of best practices significantly contributes to safeguarding the rule of law” and enhances the effectiveness of criminal justice in tackling modern forms of crime.
FBI co-deputy director Bailey praised the progress of existing cooperation and reaffirmed the FBI’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen interoperability and operational readiness among authorities.
Both sides agreed to maintain systematic communication channels to deepen bilateral relations in justice and crime prevention.
