EU countries reach common position on the Chips Act

European ministers endorsed a mandate to initiate interinstitutional negotiations on the Chips Act during the Telecom Council meeting on Thursday (1 December).
The Czech EU Council presidency has put forward a compromise text on the Chips Act, obtained by EURACTIV, pitching changes to the scope, requirements for special facilities, consortia setup, crisis monitoring and response.
The European Commission will present a ‘chips package’ to upscale capacity, relax state aid rules, finance research and establish international partnerships, according to several draft documents seen by EURACTIV.
