India’s Independence Inspired by Greek Ideas
By Arunansh B Goswami* In his book The Histories, Herodotus mentions ‘Indians’ (‘Indoi-Ινδοι’ in Greek) on page 187. It was the first time Indians were referred to as such in a text. This is, in fact, many centuries prior to their calling their land India. which is derived from the Sindhu (Indus) River.
