AADE’s four new weapons

With four new, powerful digital instruments financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, the tax administration is entering a new era of tax audits, where data is cross-checked in real time and transactions are monitored at the moment they are made.

The tax office will be able to see in real time cash register movements, control electronic transactions via POS, create complete digital profiles of taxpayers and connect information from banks, public bodies and other countries.

With the activation of advanced business intelligence systems, the upgrade of the tax information system, real-time monitoring of transactions and digital tracking of the movement of goods, the audit mechanism is changing radically. According to the plan, at the end of June, the following will be activated:

1. The Advanced Business Intelligence and Data Analytics System will be delivered and will allow for the cross-checking of a huge volume of data in a few seconds. The new system will check in real time transactions via POS, the data entered by businesses in the myDATA electronic system, the fuel input-output system, and even create a separate profile for each taxpayer, immediately informing about any deviations detected.

2. Supply of software for the “live” monitoring of cash register transactions. When put into operation, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue will be able to monitor cash register movements. Within 2026 the existing online data transmission system will be replaced, to monitor cash register transactions in almost real time and have them immediately transmitted to myDATA.

3. New Taxis. The first phase of the new unified Integrated Tax Information System, the purpose of which is to replace the three main tax systems of the tax authority (Taxis, Taxisnet and Elenxis) and with the aim of operational modernization of the tax authority. The new Taxis will be in direct connection with banks, the Cadastre, police, Anti-Money Laundering Authority, GEMI, EFKA, KEAO, chambers of commerce, courts, as well as with tax authorities of other countries.

4. Commercial vehicle and container tracking system, which will monitor the movement of goods. The online tracking system will also be activated at the end of June.
