Greece’s representative Akylas has stormed into the Grand Final of Eurovision 2026 after a powerful and energetic performance in the First Semi-Final at the Wiener Stadthalle.

The Greek entry, under the creative direction of renowned director and choreographer Fokas Evangelinos, impressed both the live audience and television viewers. Akylas, accompanied by four outstanding actors-dancers, delivered a high-octane, rhythm-driven performance that brought the stadium to life.
With 50% of the qualification result determined by the public vote, it was evident that the Greek participation resonated strongly across Europe.
Akylas’ Emotional First Statements
Immediately after qualification was confirmed, a thrilled and visibly moved Akylas addressed dozens of Greek and international journalists at the Eurovision Media Centre:
“Wow… I still can’t believe it!
First of all, a huge thank you to the Greek public and to all the European viewers who voted for us and helped us qualify. I’m so emotional right now.
The energy in the stadium was insane! When I heard our name called first, I felt pure relief and joy. We worked incredibly hard for this moment — me, the dancers, Fokas Evangelinos, and the whole team — and to see it pay off tonight is indescribable.
The stage was explosive, exactly as we wanted it. The four incredible dancers and I gave everything we had. The fact that 50% came from the public vote means so much to us. It shows that people felt the song and the performance.
Now we’re in the Grand Final on Saturday! We’re going to give it our absolute all again. Greece deserves to shine, and we’re ready to bring even more fire to the final!
Thank you everyone — let’s go Greece!”
Responding to gptomusic.gr, Akylas added:
“We wanted to create something powerful, modern and very Greek at the same time. The reaction from the audience in the hall and online has been overwhelming. I’m incredibly proud of what we presented tonight. Now the real battle begins on Saturday!”
Greece now advances to the Grand Final on Saturday, May 16, 2026, alongside the other nine qualifiers from the First Semi-Final.
Greek City Times congratulates Akylas and the entire Greek delegation on this impressive qualification and wishes them every success in the final!
