Belarus blocks its exports for six months

Belarus will ban from Friday, September 23 and for six months the export of different equipment, from means of transport and smartphones to nuclear reactors, without the reasons having been disclosed.

The Cabinet of Ministers announced Thursday that it will temporarily block the export of more than 250 types of domestically manufactured industrial and consumer goods to both member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) – Kazakhstan, Armenia, Russia and Kyrgyzstan – and non-members.

Among the list of manufactured goods whose export has been cancelled are such means of transport as automobiles – motorcycles, bicycles, aircraft, tractors, locomotives – medical products, various tools and equipment, gas generators, heating equipment, and even nuclear reactors.

It also includes a ban on the export of refrigeration and freezing equipment, forklifts, excavators, agricultural and forestry equipment, agricultural machinery, computers, batteries, vacuum cleaners, smartphones and electronic equipment, according to Interfax.

Exempt from the restrictions are those products with special licenses issued by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, as well as goods moving between the territories of Russia through Belarus and those exported to Russia “within the framework of the Union State, including in transit through the territories of other states”.
