Coast guard units are searching the Saronic Gulf, west of Athens, for a missing ferry passenger who is believed to have fallen overboard, authorities said on Wednesday.

The missing woman, a 61-year-old Athens resident, was last seen on security footage boarding a ferry bound for the island of Chios in the eastern Aegean. When her relatives were unable to contact her, they alerted authorities, the coast guard said.

Three coast guard vessels and a navy helicopter have been deployed in the search, which is underway amid strong winds.
