Cyprus’ vaccination program is speeding up and so far more than 200,000 citizens got their 1st dose of the COVID vaccine, according to the island`s Health Ministry.
Citing figures by the ECDC, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the Ministry said on Thursday that until yesterday a total of 200,670 citizens or 27.9% got their 1st dose and 67,637 or 9.5% got both doses, a total of 268,307 vaccinations.
The Ministry`s Spokesperson Margarita Kyriakou told the Cyprus News Agency that a total of 200 GPs have shown interest to administrate the AstraZeneca vaccine to citizens over 30 at their offices. Also, 45 GPs who are registered through the State Health Services Organization will join in the effort to step up the inoculations.
So far, she said, a total of 16,000 AZ vaccines will be distributed to GPs.
