Cyprus announce new categorization of countries into effect May 6th

Cyprus Health Ministry announced the new changes for country categorization that come into effect May 6th, based on the epidemiological figures in various countries.

Iceland is now in the orange category from green, and Malta and Norway go into orange category from red. The Ministry points out that the categorization for EU member states and for countries of the European Economic Area (EEA-Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) including Switzerland are based on the one the ECDC follows.

As regards third countries (UK, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Lebanon, UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Belarus, Qatar, Serbia, USA, Armenia, Georgia and Bahrain) and others included in a list prepared by the European Council, the Ministry closely follows their epidemiological figures and puts them in green, orange and red categories.

The categorization can change rapidly at any time, given the figures and the situation in those countries and new arrangements are announced by the Ministry of Health.

As of now Green category includes Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Israel. Passengers from these countries do not have to self isolate or show a COVID test.

Orange category includes Portugal, Ireland, Finland, Malta, Iceland and Norway as well as China, UK and Thailand. Visitors need to show a COVID PCR rest 72 hours prior to their arrival . If they are Cyprus citizens (including spouses) or have permanent residence in Cyprus, can take the test upon their arrival and pay the cost.  These passengers need to self isolate until their test comes back.

Red category countries include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Croatia, Luxembourg , Romania, Spain, Italy, Greece, Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, Andorra, Monaco, Vatican and San Marino, Switzerland, Liechtenstein , Rwanda, Russia, UAE, Ukraine, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Belarus, Qatar, Serbia, USA, Armenia, Georgia and Bahrain.

All passengers need to show a negative PCR test 72 hours prior to their arrival on the island as well as another test upon arrival. They also need to self isolate until  the test comes back and pay for the expenses.

These passengers need to self isolate for 72 hours regardless of the result of the test and they can exit the isolation on another test.

Countries of grey category are countries from which arrivals are allowed on special permit. Passengers can enter if they are Cyprus citizens (including spouses), EU citizens and EEA citizens (and Switzerland) and those residing in legally in Cyprus.

They need to show a negative PCR test done 72 hours prior their arrival and must isolate for 14 days or for seven days given they have a negative PCR test.

All passengers from all categories must fill out the CyprusFlightPass.
