Ministerial meeting at the FM following activation of ESTIA plan.

A inter-ministerial meeting is taking place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Nicosia, following the activation of the National Plan “ESTIA,” due to the emergency situation in the region after Israel’s attacks against Iran on Thursday.

According to information obtained by CNA, the meeting was scheduled to begin at 11:00 am local time.

Already, President Nikos Christodoulides has convened an urgent National Security Council in response to the developments in the region, which will be held at 1700.

Participants in the meeting include the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Defence, Public Order, and Transport.

Additionally, the Deputy Ministers of Tourism and Migration, the Chief of Police, and the Government Spokesman are also participating.

The Special National Plan ESTIA is the National Action Plan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, which is activated in case of emergency or crisis, to allow for the safe evacuation of civilians from a nearby crisis area (from the wider Middle East region) through Cyprus. It may also be implemented in cases of natural disasters in the region, which might also result to the evacuation of EU and third country citizens, through Cyprus.
