The President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides has invited the members of the Cabinet, given the fact that the new European Commission took over its duties in Brussels on December 1, to hold meetings with all the new Commissioners, in view of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU during the first half of 2026.

In his address at the beginning of the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, President Christodoulides said that apart from these meetings, the issues to be discussed, the bilateral issues, the Presidency and the relationship to be built should be presented. “We will be holding the Presidency (in cooperation) with the Commission that we are holding the Presidency. Our Trio Presidency starts on January, therefore we are following even more closely the discussions, the developments at the EU level,” he noted.

“And in this context, the participation of all of you in the Councils in Brussels, at the ministerial level, is essential. And now there will be more regular discussions at the Cabinet level on developments in the Commission, the issues, the various dossiers, always in line with the preparations for our Presidency,” he added.
