Cyprus participated in the international wine and spirits exhibition PROWEIN 2026, in Düsseldorf, Germany, between 15 and 17 March, for the fifth consecutive year, with a state pavilion.
A press release by the Commerce Ministry says that seven Cypriot wineries took part in the exhibition, highlighting the uniqueness of the indigenous wine grape varieties and presenting various types of wines.
For the first time this year, tastings were held during the exhibition in the specially designed area of the pavilion.
Cyprus had three wine tastings for Commandaria wine and the indigenous Cypriot varieties Xynisteri, Maratheftiko and Yiannoudi.
The Ministry said that the presentations attracted a satisfactory number of visitors, who were informed by the winemakers about the special characteristics and history of the varieties.
According to the announcement, the Cypriot wineries were dynamically present and held important commercial contacts with existing and potential partners.
PROWEIN exhibition, which has been held annually since 1994, is considered the most important international wine exhibition, with this year’s event hosting approximately 31,000 visitors from 105 countries and 3,400 exhibitors from 63 countries.
