Hello Kian! We’re happy to have you with us in this interview. Tell us more about yourself. Who is Kian Barazandeh?
Hi, Thanks for having me; my name is Kian Barazandeh Iranian-Emirati International Fashion-Model & Actor Based in Milan Italy. Besides my main professions are a Crypto Activist & Social Media influencer.
Was modeling the only thing you always dreamed of doing?
Ironically, I never planned to become a model or actor during my younger years, I was scouted over one decade ago by a Professional agent that believes in my talent and “the look.” Following my initial modeling scouting, my career took off at a pace that most other models never witness during their climb to fame. In just one-
to-two years, I achieved being named IMTA’s “Model of the Year” using my momentum to win some of the biggest modeling partnerships in the world.
What is it like the first time you were in front of the camera?
I’m always cold-blooded and relaxed when it comes to professional stages. To relax means to calm your body and mind and relieve yourself from panic and anxiety. Relaxing is good for your mind, and it makes you feel calm and at peace. Our body also needs rest, and it is important to identify the signs that the body shows when it is overworked.
You have gained critical acclaim for portraying some characters in films. How do you feel every time the critics adore you and feature you with flying colors?
I started acting in 2013. My first movie was “The Past” as Ahmad. After that, I’ve been acting in two other movies such as “The Parodies 6” (2016) as Leo” and “Dark Web: Cicada 3301” (2021) as David” and also two TV series “Love 101” (2021) as Michael” and my last and current project is “Once Upon a Time in Iran” (2022) as Reza” I always kind of knew that I’m going to be an actor or model. Frankly, it didn’t surprise me to decide upon this. At my younger age before I knew anything about this industry or the working routines…I was shooting pictures and videos of myself and those pictures did open the door to the amazing and glamorous world of fashion, commercials, and movies for me.
Can you define acting based on your criteria and what are the skills an actor should have?
These are the desirable skills to become an ideal Actor or Performer:
Ability to take direction.
Ability to work as a team and also individually.
Good time-keeping skills.
Reliability.
Ability to learn lines/directions.
Confidence in being in front of an audience.
Experience in improvisation/ad-libbing.
Who are some of the great actors you admire or have collaborated with?
A few actors I admire are Daniel Day Lewis, Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Leo DiCaprio, Amy Adams, Meryl Streep etc…but the actor I admire the most is James Franco; This guy is a chameleon. Not just in the sense that he disappears into the role he takes on, but also in that he can take up almost any kind of role and he wouldn’t seem out of place
in it.
Describe to us your go-to outfit?
A fine, well-tailored suit with a nice skinny tie, or maybe some well- fitting khakis and a high-end polo shirt.
What’s the biggest misconception about the male modeling industry?
A lot of people assume that we’re making tons of money and partying with Kanye. There can be good money; sometimes you might make five months of rent in a single day and then not work for the next two months. It’s really random. But I think that a lot of people assume we’re getting into a lot more exclusive places than we are. If you’re
really dedicated to clubbing, you can party with celebrities. But that’s most club kids — if they hang out long enough, they get friends that will get them in anywhere. Celebrities are certainly sometimes around at shows, but we never really talk to them.
Also, often now clients are booking models less on how they look and more on how many Instagram followers they have. It’s resorted to a lot of models buying their followers so as to appear more successful and appealing to clients. In recent years, social media has changed the way the modeling industry has worked. There are still plenty of clients
who book models based on aesthetic alone, but way too often now “insta-famous” models are getting jobs due to the clients hoping they will get extra followers if the model posts pictures of their job.
Do you have any upcoming projects that you could tell us about?
Next season, I’m going to work with the world’s biggest and most known brands such as D&G, Georgio Armani and Tom Ford.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Training, studying, shooting, learning and elevating my personal life in general.
What’s your personal passion or hidden talents?
I’m former men’s physique division champion, calisthenics expert and powerlifter which you can look up to my performance in the gym in my training highlights on my Ιnstagram.
Name three places that you want to travel to.
I believe I have already traveled to all the places, I was looking to travel. And I’m deeply focused on elevating my fashion modeling career in Milano Italy. So, for a long while I may stay there before I can even think about traveling to other places.
