Greece is preparing to launch its largest shipbuilding program for the Hellenic Coast Guard in decades, earmarking €333 million for the construction of 18 advanced vessels, including two offshore patrol ships over 80 meters long with helipads, as well as coastal patrol and chase boats.
The program has attracted interest from major Greek shipyards, which are expected to partner with international defense firms.
Funds are also being earmarked for a new AI-driven operations “war room” to support surveillance, rescue, border security and counter-smuggling missions.
In total, spending is projected to reach €380 million.
