New show celebrates African culture

By Martin Banks

The first edition of The African RunShow will take place on April 30, in collaboration with the AfricaMuseum in Brussels.

This annual event celebrates the creativity, elegance, and diversity of African fashion, with a particular focus on Central Africa.

Fashion designers, models, celebrities, and artists from Belgium and neighboring countries will come together to showcase the talents of the African fashion industry.

This first edition focuses on the theme of raffia, a natural fibre extracted from the leaves of the raffia palm, primarily native to Africa and Madagascar.

It is a sustainable and renewable material, renowned for its flexibility and strength.

This theme inspires designers to integrate raffia in innovative and contemporary ways into their collections, celebrating Africa’s rich cultural traditions in a modern context

The African RunShow was founded by sisters Exaucé and Divine Ngalasi, known for their innovative approach to digital creation and urban culture.

Exaucé, a personal shopper at House of Trends, and Divine Ngalasi, founder of NailsTherapyx, combined their expertise in styling and communications to bring this project to life.

Alongside Tusevo Toen, founder of Streetbuzz.be they form a dynamic team that highlights urban trends and African fashion in a contemporary way.
