PM urges Marbles’ return in meeting with UNESCO chief

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met Friday with UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany at the Maximos Mansion to discuss strategic cooperation and organizational priorities, including the “UNESCO80” reform.

Mitsotakis reiterated Greece’s long-standing push to reunite the Parthenon Marbles, calling it a continuous priority. He highlighted UNESCO’s official recognition of World Greek Language Day on February 9 and the country’s expanded World Heritage List, which now includes 21 site designations following recent additions of Minoan Palatial Centers and Mount Olympus.

El-Enany praised Greece’s active presence as a founding member, commending its cultural heritage.
