President Christodoulides to pay official visit to Kazakhstan

President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides will pay Kazakhstan an official visit on the 3rd of June, the first official visit of a President of the Republic of Cyprus to the country.

According to a written statement by Deputy Government Spokesman, Yiannis Antoniou, President Christodoulides will be accompanied by members of the Council of Ministers and a business delegation.

The President and his entourage will travel to Kazakhstan on June 2, with the first direct flight connecting the two countries.

The next day President Christodoulides will hold a tete a tete meeting with his counterpart, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, followed by expanded talks between the delegations of the two countries.

Moreover, the President of Kazakhstan will award the President of the Republic of Cyprus the state decoration “Order of Friendship”.

In the presence of the two Presidents, Memoranda of Understanding will be signed between the two countries in the fields of Higher Education and Research, Culture, Sports, Information and Communication Technologies, Cybersecurity and e-Government. In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the Cyprus-Kazakhstan Chambers of Commerce.

The two leaders will then make statements to the media and President Christodoulides will then attend an official lunch hosted in his honor by the President of Kazakhstan.

Later on, the President of the Republic will address and attend the Cyprus-Kazakhstan Business Forum, at the Astana International Economic Center, followed by a visit at the Alem A.I. International Center for Artificial Intelligence.

In addition, President Christodoulides will inaugurate the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Astana, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev.

The President of the Republic will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Michalis Damianos, Deputy Minister to the President Irini Piki,  Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nikodemos Damianos, Director of his Diplomatic Office Doros Venezis, the Deputy Government Spokesman and officials.

The President will return to Cyprus on Thursday, June 4.
