Greek rowing Olympian Stefanos Ntouskos secured top spot in the mens’ single sculls, winning the gold medal at the inaugural World Rowing Shanghai Sprints on Saturday.

In the battle for first place, he prevailed over Britain’s Callum Dixon, covering the distance in 1:37.90. In the first 150 meters, Ntouskos had already closed the gap on Dixon, and by the halfway mark, he had established a lead of approximately one second.

The Briton attempted to close the gap right to the end, but the Greek champion maintained control and crossed the finish line. Ireland’s Konan Pazzaia finished third, while China’s Deng Zhiwei came in fourth.

Ntouskos was competing in the World Team, an international squad bringing together elite athletes from countries that didn’t qualify a full team for the Shanghai Sprints.
