Returning a year after the event was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral’s Greek Festival in Houston was welcomed not just for the food but for the dancing again.
WINCHESTER, VA – The Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church, 1700 Amherst Street in Winchester, hosted its Greek Festival on August 14-15. Attendees enjoyed Greek music and dancing while savoring festival favorites including roasted lamb, gyro, souvlaki, moussaka, pastitsio, Santorini chicken, spanakopita, tyropita, Greek salad, Greek-style green beans, manestra, dolmades, feta and Kalamata olives.
It’s not the first place you think of for a vibrant Greek-American community but Pocatello, Idaho has it, as well as a half century tradition of celebrating Greek culture, food, dance, and music with an annual Greek festival.
Downtown Augusta, Georgia saw the return of the annual Greek festival March 11-14, revised to a drive-through only affair in keeping with COVID-19 health measures still restricting dining and gatherings for now.
