Tesco issues one-week warning to thousands of shoppers with a Clubcard

Tesco Clubcard vouchers that were extended during the Covid pandemic are on the verge of expiring, with customers warned to use them or lose them in the next week.

Coupons that were due to expire in February 2021 were given an extra shelf life of six months earlier this year – but the deadline to use them is now approaching.

The Clubcard coupons will now run out on Tuesday, August 31 2021, allowing one week left to use them.

The supermarket giant starting extending expiry dates on its digital vouchers last year – and will continue to accept paper vouchers in-store until the newly updated deadlines.

However, vouchers that have already had their cut-off date pushed back – for example, ones that were due to expire in May 2021 but are now due to last until November 2021 – will still expire on these dates.

Any Clubcard vouchers that were already extended won’t be extended again, Tesco has said.

Tesco Clubcard is the supermarket’s loyalty scheme which lets shoppers earn points as they spend in stores – these are then transferred into vouchers, depending on how many points you’ve built up.

You can also collect points through Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile.

You need a minimum of 150 points to get any sort of voucher, which will be worth £1.50 to spend in Tesco – or save them up, and 500 points would be worth £5, for example.

But Tesco isn’t the only place where you can spend Clubcard points.

If you swap your points to use at a Rewards Partner, you could potentially triple their value – so 500 points could end up being worth £15.

Examples of places where this is possible include restaurant chains such as Bella Italia and Zizzi.

You can also check if you have forgotten vouchers by logging into the Tesco Clubcard website with your account details.

Once you are logged in, click on “my Clubcard account” and then “vouchers” and you should see a table listing the vouchers you still have to spend.

You can spend any leftover vouchers online straight away, or print them out from home if you would rather use them in store.

If yours are close to expiring, but you do not want to spend them just yet, there is a trick to extend them.

Turn your coupons into Faster Vouchers and they will last 21 months from the date you convert your vouchers.

That means you could get an extra 21 months use out of them beyond the usual two-year expiry date.
