We are particularly interested in Pyla because it is a community in which Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots live together and the state needs to provide full support so that the improvement in their living conditions can also help to the harmonious coexistence of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.
Unfortunately the local community’s main problems are continuing even though AKEL had exerted pressure for their solution. Some actions had been taken in the past and some issues had been resolved, but it appears that they are enduring, while the solution of the key problem of the road on the coastal front of Pyla is still pending for decades.
In AKEL’s opinion, the state needs to pay much more attention to Pyla, to help both the President and the residents to address the difficulties, in order to develop into a real model community where Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots live together in harmonious coexistence.
