Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin visited Athens last week and met with his Greek counterpart, reports said Wednesday.

No details have been officially made public on the talks between Kalin, who heads Turkey’s National Intelligence Organisation (MIT), and Greece’s EYP chief Themistoklis Demiris.

The two had met earlier in Ankara.

Government sources quoted by private Skai.gr news site said last week’s talks included developments in the southeast Mediterranean, Syria, Libya and tension in relations between Turkey and Israel.

Although the meeting came at a time of increased political tension between Greece and Turkey, the officials said Kalin did not bear an ultimatum of any kind, but instead the talks confirmed a desire to maintain bilateral relations on an even keel.
