Akylas, the singer who represented Greece at the 70th Eurovision contest Saturday, ending in 10th place, received an ovation at Athens airport from bystanders upon arrival Sunday afternoon.
“It was a unique experience for me. I sincerely thank all of you who made my dream a reality,” Akylas told the assembled media plus a substantial crowd of bystanders. “I hope I made you proud. I gave it 100%,” he said, adding that during the night of his performance he felt, strangely, that all he had worked to achieve for a long time, was about to end suddenly. “I had abandonment syndrome, it was a bit difficult,” he said.
Akylas revealed than an album he had been working on will be released in a few days.
