GREECE
Cold front brings snow and frost to Greece through Wednesday

A strong cold front will keep weather conditions wintry across Greece through Wednesday, with snow, sharp temperature drops and widespread frost, state broadcaster ERT reported.

The front, which brought snow to northern Greece and temperatures as low as minus 7 degrees Celsius in areas like Seli in northern Greece, will move slowly south, reaching Crete and the Dodecanese by Tuesday. Cold temperatures will persist, especially in the mornings and nights, with frost expected in much of the mainland.

“The front will gradually weaken, but cold weather will hold through midweek,” said meteorologist Anastasia Tyraski. By Thursday, temperatures will begin to rise, returning to seasonal norms by the weekend.

Showers and local snow are forecast Tuesday and Wednesday in central and southern regions, with clearer skies in the north. Winds from the north will reach up to 7 Beaufort in the Aegean. By early next week, spring-like conditions are expected, with highs above 20 degrees Celsius.

In Attica, Tuesday and Wednesday will be cloudy with local rain showers, and temperatures will not rise above 12-13 degrees Celsius. Strong northerly winds will persist, reaching up to 6-7 Beaufort along the coast. While frost is not anticipated in central Athens, higher parts of Attica may see some overnight freezing. Temperatures will start to gradually rise on Thursday, with conditions becoming more spring-like by the weekend.
