PM: Hellenic Navy’s first FDI frigate a ‘historic milestone’

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in his weekly Sunday morning post, described the official integration this week of the first FDI Belharra frigate into the Hellenic Navy as a “historic milestone” for the country’s defense, emphasizing that it ensures Greece’s deterrent power “is not questioned by anyone.”

Mitsotakis said Greece remains a pillar of “stability and reliability in the eastern Mediterranean, seeking good-neighborly and cooperative relations with countries in the region,” while at the same time “upgrading its Armed Forces both in terms of the resources they have and the strengthening of human resources.”

According to the prime minister, three more state-of-the-art, French-made FDI-class frigates are expected to join the fleet within the next 18 months.
