Cyprus Cabinet to take decisions on upgrading shelters

The Council of Ministers we will take during its next meeting further decisions with a view to upgrade shelters for citizens, President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, said on Monday.

Asked by journalists about the issue of shelters in Cyprus, given the crisis in the region, the President said that there are positive aspects but there are also negative aspects concerning this issue, adding that we are not at the level we would like to be.

“Are we at the level we want or should be? No, we are not. I am not going to gloss over the situation, especially in a country where 52 years ago we had an invasion, occupation. The first thing that had to be done was to have shelters,” he stressed.

There is, he continued, a significant increase in the percentage of shelters, but “we are not satisfied and at the next Council of Ministers meeting we will take further decisions to upgrade these shelters”.
