Air Cairo launches new direct services between Egypt and Athens

Air Cairo has launched new direct scheduled services to Athens, strengthening air connectivity between Egypt and Greece.

The airline began operating regular flights on the Cairo-Athens route on Friday, followed by the launch of Alexandria-Athens services on Sunday.

Speaking at an event held at Athens International Airport, the airport’s communications and marketing director, Ioanna Papadopoulou, said the new routes not only enhance air links between Greece and Egypt but also reflect the two countries’ long-standing historical, cultural and economic ties.

She also announced that Air Cairo plans to further expand its network by introducing direct services from Athens to the Red Sea tourist destinations of Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh.

Air Cairo Chief Commercial Officer Ahmed Aziz said the additional routes are expected to further boost inbound tourism to Egypt by providing European travelers with easier access to the country’s leading Red Sea destinations. [AMNA]
