Man Utd battle two European giants for Leicester star who could be sold

Wilfred Ndidi is in line to become the next Leicester City player to be snapped up by another club, with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid reportedly among his suitors.

Leicester have had a good eye for top talent in recent years, seeing a number of their better players tempted away by big offers. Ndidi has established himself as an important part of their side in recent years and he too may be rewarded with a high-profile move.

The Foxes are on course to qualify for the Champions League, but that might not stop some of their players considering a move away if a more traditional big club comes calling.

Ndidi may be faced with such a dilemma, according to Fichajes, as Man Utd, PSG and Real Madrid are apparently interested in him.

The Spanish source expects Leicester to make one big sale this summer to allow them to fund their own signings. It points to the succession of players who have left the club one year after the other.

With a lack of interest in some of their other stars at present, Ndidi may be the one they decide to cash in on. Man Utd are among those who could try to take advantage.

United are looking to find the right balance in midfield. They have plenty of attack-minded options, such as Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba, but there are still doubts about the base of the central area of their formation.

Fred has often partnered Scott McTominay this season, but despite an upturn in form, still hasn’t convinced everyone. Hence, they could be looking for someone they can rely on more regularly.

There are also fears about Pogba potentially leaving if he does not sign a new contract. In that event, Ndidi would add a different element to their midfield.

But two reigning champions in the top European leagues are also keen on the Nigerian. Real Madrid want to take him to Spain and PSG to France.

Madrid’s midfield remains stacked with world-class options such as Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. But they are 29, 31 and 35 respectively and longer-term options may be required in the Spanish capital.

As for PSG, they are always looking to flex their financial muscles and are eager to strengthen their squad to sustain further European challenges.

The report from Fichajes denies that any club has made contact with Leicester yet. However, all three are reportedly monitoring the situation and could make their moves in the summer.

United have big plans for Van de Beek

Another midfielder at United’s disposal is Donny van de Beek, who has struggled for gametime since his summer move from Ajax.

He was recently linked with a move away from the club as part of a swap deal with Roma for Nicolo Zaniolo.

However, according to The Sun, United still have “big plans” for the Dutchman. Therefore, they will not look to get rid of him in the summer.

They may still be expecting other departures, though. Pogba’s future is still a grey area, for example.

Should he move on, then United may need to sign extra players in midfield. Ndidi is a long-term target and it seems he is still on their radar.
