Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday voiced support for Germany, hours after Berlin blamed Russia for an attempted drone attack at a German airport last month.
“Greece stands in full solidarity with Germany following the Russian hybrid attack in Leipzig,” Mitsotakis wrote on X. “Attempts to intimidate our democracies will not succeed. We remain steadfast, and will maintain credible deterrence to protect our citizens and our security.”
The German government announced that it would shut down a Russian consulate in retaliation for the incident in which a drone carrying explosives was detected near a Ukrainian plane on August 4. The device was defused.
