Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos will participate next week in the EU Foreign Affairs Council, where the situation in the Middle East will be discussed, followed by a trip to the UK where he will hold a meeting with his British counterpart.
According to a press release from the Ministry, Constantinos Kombos will travel to Brussels on Sunday, 15 December 2024, where on Monday, 16 December, he will participate in the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union. The Council will focus on the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East including the latest developments in Syria, the situation in Georgia, as well as other current issues related to international relations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will also inform his counterparts about the candidacy of the Republic of Cyprus for the Chair of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) for 2027.
He will then travel to London, where on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, he will hold a working breakfast with his British counterpart David Lammy. The meeting will focus on the Cyprus-UK bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue and developments in the Middle East region.
Afterwards, the 2nd Cyprus-United Kingdom Strategic Dialogue will take place, in the presence of expanded delegations from the two countries. The Cyprus delegation will be led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Andreas Kakouris.
During his stay in London, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will brief the Greek diaspora at a gathering to be held in the afternoon of the same day, the press release concludes.
