GREEKS ABROAD
He’s a Carpenter, and Artist – Nondas Galiotzakis Puts on a Show

NASHUA, NH – Nondas Galiotzakis is not just an artist, but a real craftsman, a carpenter by trade whose deft touch with color on huge canvases is being featured in a popup gallery in this southern New Hampshire city.

He studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and spent a lot of his time there while working for the office of the Greek Consulate General in the Massachusetts capital.

A native of Lasithi Province on Crete, he came to the United States in 1989 “to spread his creative wings,” said Jim Theos, a retired banker who helped him find a bank building to display his work, said The Nashua Telegraph.

Galiotzakis developed master carpentry skills while studying at the MFA in Boston, leading to what Theos called his “evolution as a futurist and spacial Renaissance man.”

Galiotzakis came to Nashua and in 2015 opened a workshop and creative space. “It’s been exhausting … I’m really tired right now,” he told one visitor, but he’s not done, saying he wants to bring a high-end gallery or a museum to his adopted city.
