Korean National Day celebrated in Athens

The Korean embassy in Athens celebrated on Tuesday “Gaecheonjeol,” or National Foundation Day in Athens at Maria Callas theater.

On the occasion of the National Day and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Ambassador Lim Ju-seong presented his guests with a special performance by Camerata Vocale Daejeon, focusing on culture as the central theme event.

“25 years ago, a graphic novel series on Greek mythology sold over ten million copies in Korea. The children who grew up reading about Odysseus and Penelope under their bedsheets are now adults, taking their own children to the cinema with the exact same wonder, the Odyssey” the ambassador said.

“As we honor the past 65 years of our shared journey, let us look forward to the next 65 years. May our enduring friendship inspire even deeper synergy and cooperation across shipping and shipbuilding, technology, defense and peaceful diplomacy.”
