PM Mitsotakis sends wishes for Dormition holiday, calls for unity

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent his wishes for the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox holiday, celebrated across Greece each August 15, calling for unity.

“On this great Orthodox feast of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, today, August 15, in the middle of summer, we reflect and draw strength from our Holy Mother to face both personal and collective challenges. August 15 has always been a day of celebration, unity, and confidence,” said Mitsotakis, from Chania, Crete.

He added that this day is dedicated to those keeping us safe, particularly against the climate crisis.

“The members of the Armed Forces, the fighters of the Fire Service, our volunteers, all those who fight each day a difficult and often unequal battle against the climate crisis,” he said.

“My wish is that we may always find the strength to move forward, first and foremost, with unity,” he added.
