Despite the overall climate of instability and the challenges emerging in certain sectors, the prospects for further strengthening bilateral economic relations with the US are positive, said Sofia Kounenaki-Efraimoglou, first vice president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and executive vice president of the Foundation of the Hellenic World.
Speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, she said that “sectors such as technology, defense, energy, innovation and startups, infrastructure, supply chain, as well as agritechnology and tourism, present excellent opportunities. The key is to capitalize on them through targeted actions and collaborations.”
In her interview on the occasion of her candidacy for a seat on the new board of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, to be elected during the chamber’s annual general assembly on June 30 in Athens, she stressed her belief in the power of institutions to carry out work that addresses real needs of society and the economy and highlighted culture as a critical lever of soft power for Greece:
“Speaking both with officials and businesses in the US, I found there is strong interest in partnerships with Greek companies.
To take advantage of the opportunities available, we need to work methodically, professionally, with targeted networking actions, and provide quality services to businesses so they can organize their efforts under the best possible conditions,” she said.
