The Ministry of Civil Protection is set to sign a contract within the first months of 2025 for the procurement and installation of seven new meteorological radar networks across the country, sources revealed.
The new meteorological stations and radars aim to enhance prevention and preparedness for extreme weather events, addressing a weakness that, according to the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, has existed for over 20 years.
The project, with an estimated cost of €36 million, is expected to significantly improve the quality of weather forecasts for the entire country.
