For the period of January – June 2025, arrivals of tourists in Cyprus totaled 1,843,013 compared to 1,652,475 in the corresponding period of 2024, recording an increase of 11.5%, according to data published on Thursday by the Statistical Service.
In June alone, the arrivals of tourists reached 498,527, compared to 482,261 in June 2024, recording an increase of 3.4%.
Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for June 2025, with a share of 36.4% (181,610) of total arrivals, followed by Poland with 7.3% (36,616), Israel with 6.1% (30,246), Germany with 5.3% (26,643), Sweden with 4.8% (23,750) and Romania with 3.4% (16,860).
Compared to June of last year, the highest percentage increases in arrivals were recorded among tourists from Denmark (73.6%), the Netherlands (31.3%), Romania (29.1%), and Lebanon (25%). On the other hand, the largest decreases were recorded in tourist arrivals from Israel (41.6%), France (20.1%), and Greece (16.4%).
For a percentage of 81.2% of tourists, the purpose of their trip in June 2025 was holidays, for 13.2% visit to friends and relatives and for 5.6% business. Respectively, in June 2024, 83.4% of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 10.5% visited friends or relatives and 5.9% visited Cyprus for business reasons.
Returns of Residents of Cyprus
A total number of 157,324 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in June 2025 compared to 136,739 in the corresponding month last year, recording an increase of 15.1%.
The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in June 2025 were Greece with a share of 34% (53,543), the United Kingdom with 8.3% (13,134) and Italy with 7.1% (11,173).
The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus in June 2025 was mainly holidays, with a percentage of 61.6%, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 24.9%, studies 11.8% and other reasons 1.6%.
